Jour 2 : Departure for Hokkaido

At Tokyo Haneda Airport, you will board your connecting flight to Hokkaido, where your hiking guide Samuel will be waiting for you at Asahikawa Airport.Your luggage that is not necessary for the trek (days 3 to 8) will be transferred to Sapporo. We spend the night in a traditional lodge, where we enjoy its hot spring and a delicious dinner. Free arrangement for lunch. • Transports : flight between Tokyo Haneda and Asahikawa and taxi between Asahikawa Airport and the lodge • Night : lodge

Jour 3 : stage 1, Asahidake onsen → Hakuundake goya

We meet our local guide and set off on our trek. We first ascend by cable car before climbing Mount Asahidake, the island's highest peak (2,291 meters). We then continue along the ridge paths and reach the Hakuundake goya hut for our first night. • Transport : transfer from the start of the hike and cable car ride • Ascent : 1000 m / Descent : 650 m (6½ to 7 hours’ walking) • Meals : breakfast, picnic and dinner • Night : backcountry mountain hut

Jour 4 : stage 2, Kurodake-ishimuro → Chubetsudake

During this second stage, we first make our way across a high plateau and its steep slopes.We then reach the summit of Hokkaidake and continue along the Takane Valley with its magnificent scenery. Bears are fond of this area, so we remain on the lookout. The prospect of camping at the Chubetsudake goya hut looks very promising. • Ascent : 270 m / Descent : 650 m (5 to 5½ hours’ walking) • Meals : breakfast, picnic and dinner • Night : backcountry mountain hut

Jour 5 : stage 3, Chubetsudake → Minami-numa

This day allows us to appreciate the richness and diversity of the environment of Daisetsuzan National Park. We approach the Tomoraushi massif and climb to the summit of the same name. Listen carefully and you will hear the pikas in the area and may even catch a glimpse of them ! We pitch our tents at the Minami-Numa campsite, at the foot of Tomoraushi Peak (2,141 m). • Ascent : 485 m / Descent : 170 m (5 to 5½ hours’ walking) • Meals : breakfast, picnic and dinner • Night : bivouac

Jour 6 : stage 4, Minami-numa → Oputateshike

This stage is definitely the most challenging of the trek. We explore the heart of the park, surrounded by dense bamboo and coniferous vegetation, where only the initiated venture. The stage ends at the Oputateshike camp, where we set up camp. • Ascent : 630 m / Descent : 1000 m (6½ to 7 hours’ walking) • Meals : breakfast, picnic and dinner • Night : bivouac

Jour 7 : stage 5, Oputateshike → Kamihorokamettoku

The day begins with the ascent of Mount Oputateshike (2,040 m). We gradually descend towards the Bieifuji goya hut. Then we change the environment and enter the volcanic world of Tokachidake. We climb to its summit at 2,050 meters before beginning the descent to the Kamihorokamettoku hut for a well-deserved rest. • Ascent : 1250 m / Descent : 1060 m (7½ to 8 hours’ walking) • Meals : breakfast, picnic and dinner • Night : backcountry mountain hut

Jour 8 : stage 6, Kamihorokamettoku → Tokachidake onsen

This final stage takes us first to the summit of Kamihorokamettoku (1,900 m) before a round trip to the summit of Mitsumine. We then descend towards Tokachidake Onsen, the end of our complete crossing of Daisetsuzan National Park! We enjoy the hot springs at the Ryounkaku establishment. • Ascent : 230 m / Descent : 790 m (4 to 4½ hours’ walking) • access to hot springs (onsen) • Transport : transfer between Tokachidake Onsen and Sapporo (3 hours) • Meals : breakfast, lunch and dinner • Night : hotel

Jour 9 : Sapporo

You will have the morning free to explore the capital of Hokkaido. In the afternoon, we will drive to Lake Shikotsuko, where we will stay overnight in a ryokan with its own onsen. Free arrangement for lunch. • Transport : from Sapporo to Shikotsuko (1½ hour) • Meals : breakfast and dinner • Night : ryokan

Jour 10 : Noboribetsu onsen

We head to Noboribetsu Onsen Station, where we discover the majestic Hell Valley. We visit the site and continue on to the hot springs to soak our feet in a specially designed area. At the end of the day, we enjoy the magnificent spa facilities at our hotel. • Meals : breakfast, lunch and dinner • Night : hôtel

Jour 11 : return to Tokyo

Our discovery of Hokkaido comes to an end and we head to Chitose Airport, where we catch our flight to Tokyo. Now you can explore the Japanese capital ! At the end of the day, we share a traditional dinner. Free arrangement for lunch. • Meals : breakfast and dinner • Night : hôtel
